About
Everything we put on the internet today is now source material for writing and art that OpenAIās like ChatGPT and DALL-E 2 will create (and profit off of). So, what happens when we do the opposite of what these algorithms do, and consent to sharing our most private, digital moments in a public space? What if these digital snippets become the āsource materialā for an algorithm that does not exist on the internet, but in the intimacy of one room?
source.txt is an interactive poetry installation that has and will be showing at various locations worldwide. Thus far, it has shown at Treehouse NDSM in Amsterdam during the āIn the Process of Makingā exhibition in the Spring of 2023 and in Killeagh, Ireland at Greywood Arts in September 2023. The algorithm is on the lookout for more locations to squat in 2025 and beyond!!
The poet, Kelly Mullins, uses the material generated in the room to write and exhibit their work in real time during the installation. The public is also invited to participate in the generation of poems using the source text. Poems generated from the room will be shared regularly with the public in this email newsletter and on this website.
The algorithm is always looking for its next home, so if you have inquiries or ideas for collaboration, please hit up its creator at mullins.kr@gmail.com
